The Question of 'Who did it?'

Hi all! It was indeed a fruitful session between the lecturers and students yesterday in Room 411. I could also sense unhappiness towards the allegation that was published online. The person who wrote the message has tainted the reputation of the college which you all belong to. I understand your frustration towards whoever responsible. I also heard rumours which accuses the 4 graduates as responsible. I would like to take this opportunity to assure you that I strongly believe that none of them are responsible for this matter. I know them pretty well and based on the content of the letter, I'm sure that none of them have any reason to write such letter. Therefore, we should stop speculating on anyone of them.

The person responsible for this is someone who is still studying in the college. Let's ponder........

Hitori Nakayama

http://www.lestariheritage.net/hitori/webpages/hitori.htm

I didnt knw that this guy is actually so famous. I saw him on the road so many times, in public places even during our Little Penang Street Market last month.
Perhaps we can invite him for a workshop one day?!?! I can see that he is 'somebody'.

New Promenade and Sculptures

There is a new public place along Jelutong Expressway. 2 artists (1 local, 1 Japanese) were invited to design public sculptures for this new park. The tall structures in blue named 'A CELEBRATION OF OUR BLUE SKY' was designed by Nakayama Hitori while the scroll like orange sculpture was designed by Heng Eow Lin. Below is the description of their design concepts:

A CELEBRATION OF OUR BLUE SKY
There stand four tall post…
but you see only two of them,
sometimes three and sometimes all four…
depending on where you stand.

You come to see these posts…
which symbolize nature…
that is continuously changing.

The colour of the posts is blue the sky…true!...
but watching the sky at sunset or,
at night you’ll give up this cliché…
that the sky is always blue.

The blue in this work of mine symbolizes…
man’s desire to return to nature.

- Nakayama Hitori

THE RHYTHM OF LIFE
The musical note reflects rhythm:
When the rhythm of a song is right…
all things fall in place -
it is easy on the ear as it is harmonious.

When it is a happy song, the feeling is happy and pleasant.

This sculpture interprets life like a beautiful rhythm.
The sculpture – a simple note rising high…
with vibrant colours –
reflects the basic element of a life synchronized.

Like the vibrantly musical note elevated high,
When life is in sync – it is easy and happy.

In short, it strives to echo the age old truth…
that when you have the rhythm of life…
life is easy, happy and often colourful.

- Heng Eow Lin

Design Forum

Hi all Art Farmers!!! This is my first time writing something on this blog, quite excited about it actually! Recently more and more people have taken blog seriously as a way of conveying messages to the general public. Even our ex-PM Tun Dr. M has started his own blog about a month ago and he has broken the record of achieving one million visitors to his blog in just a month's time!! We all can do it as well, tell all your friends about your blog and started showcasing everything that you feel passionate about, especially your own creative art works. Use this blog as a platform for you to advertise yourself and your talent. All members (and not just restricted to committe) should be encouraged to do this.

Beside exhibiting your work, it will be great if this platform can slowly be turned into a forum for art and design lovers. Someone could just easily start a topic to be discussed here. I assure you that if one of you started a topic, I'm going to respond to it. Make this into a healthy sharing and discussion forum. Design education is very different from the other courses. Creativity business needs a lot of ideas, and it is always better to have more than one brain contemplating on a concept.

Well, hope you all have fun here!

Fantasy Comes to Life

Since this is an art club, we will be posting artworks by artist around the world to inspire the 'art farmers' here and also to acknowledge their creativity and talent.

After watching fantasy movies and reading novels like Lord of The Rings and Harry Potter, ever wish to be part of the story or to bring the characters to life?

Artist Bruno Torf created this sculpture garden as a permanent attraction in the small Victorian village of Marysville near Melbourne, Australia. The luscious sub-alpine forests of the surrounding areas where ideal for Bruno's settings which consists of over three hundred paintings and sculptures. The garden started out with just fifteen life size terracotta sculptures but slowly grew to over one hundred and fifteen pieces on display.

So if any of you guys ever drop by Australia, do make a visit to this wonderful garden.

Searching For The War Field

That day we went to check out the price and the field. Finally we decide to choose the field behind Prontip restaurant which is very near to KDU, thats already been mentioned in the previous post. Above is the field that I capture the photo.

When we enter to the office and ask about the price and others, the boss is quite friendly to let us planning the things want to do there, after a while a customer come in to buy the mask and he also sharing the experiment when playing.

On the sharing it really impress me and make me wanted to play it just on the spot, like cant wait to play it. Feel very excited man, because from the sharing he tell us, paintball not just a entertaint game, it can gain knowledge how to cooperate with your teammates to beat down the opponent and also how you use your policy to play this game, so I think it can let us feel satisfy after play it and maybe not enough and willing to play second time.

So dont miss the chances to registed your name to us start from this monday.

Appreciating Mothers Around the World

Have you been busy lately till you never had time to have dinner with your mother?
Have you stop saying 'I love you, Mum' since you were young?
Have you disobey your Mum and make her cried just because she knows what is best for you?
Have you ever place your girlfriend, wife or even friends above your mother?
Have you met her need when she needed one?
Have you ever dislike your mum for her action but do you give a second of thought that she is the one that brings you up and give birth to you?

Mother's Day is just around the corner...even a small hug meant a lot but don't do it because you want to safe your money. Even though the advertisement is about chinese new year but let's learn from the value it shows. Thanks to Yasmin Ahmad for this great ad. Life is all about love. What would your life be if it wasn't for love? Do something special for her this Mother's Day. It may not repay all the things she had did for you but at least you showed love back to your mum. Happy Mother's Day to all the great mother's out there.

Iron Man 2008

One of the hottest and most anticipated film of the year has finally arrive to our local cinemas. This movie is a bomb. It offers elements such as comedy, action, romance (just a little if you don't count some 'stuff' Tony Stark did before he actually found his true identity), drama, sci-fi and thriller. I won't be a spoiler to this movie but just go watch it...I think it is better than The Forbidden Kingdom, no offense, but The Forbidden Kingdom is also not bad. Marvel has done it again, captivating everyone with it's comics and now with new and advanced technology, comic character finally comes to life. The show is like the equation of The Shawshank Redemption + Spiderman + Charlie Wilson's War + Transformers = Iron Man. Haha my math maybe wrong but go check it out yourself and you be the judge. I went to watch it on the opening day and I was so surprise that GSC do receive student card even for new films. Wow I'm like a barbarian watching movie in Penang hahaha...anyway I didn't regret this and it was really nice. Everyone in the cinema laugh and also was amazed by it's fascinating story line. Credits goes to Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Terrence Howards (Jim Rhodes), Jeff Bridges (Obadiah), Gwyneth Paltrow (Pepper Potts), all the cast that had contributed, the production crew and last but not least Jon Favreau (Director). Go get your tickets at your nearest cinema right now!!! Go! Go! Go!
